I love mini sessions because I get to hang out with people and just celebrate who they are in this time of their life. And that’s exactly what I had the opportunity of doing on this shoot! Angel (yes, a different Angel than me, but we will get back to our similarities) reached out to me and asked to do a mini session, and she brought along a couple of her sweet friends from church, Kristi and Hannah. They all woke up at the crack of dawn to have a lovely morning shoot with me, and Y’ALL. These women are absolutely STUNNING, hilarious, kind, and sweet. Ohmygoodness. I’m highkey obsessed with this shoot. We tried out serious faces, had fun carrying Kristi, and I just had fun celebrating this season of life with them. Also, this shoot started their day of just hanging out — they got breakfast together and then went to Arrington Vineyards later that day to grab some wine and just enjoy the weather (although Saturday was VERY hot). These women are incredible and I am so thankful that I had this lovely morning to hang out with them, even if we were sweating the ENTIRE time.
BUT OKAY. Storytime. So I met Angel my freshman year of college, when one of my brother’s friends (Brock) walked up to me at a CRU meeting and asked me if I had met Angel. I had NEVER met another person with my name, so I thought he was joking and told him of course I have, I’m HER (lol, rip. Sorry Brock). He got confused, but took me to meet Angel and I was SHOOK that someone had the same name as me haha. Prideful? Definitely. Anyway, I got to know Angel better because she became my freshman Bible Study leader and she was such a sweet and wise mentor to me as I joined Vanderbilt (shoutout to her co-leader Abby! love you ❤️).
As I got to know Angel better, we realized that there were parts of our lives that were crazy similar. Obviously, we were both at Vanderbilt and with the same names — to me, that was enough. However, THERE IS MORE. We are both from the same southern part of India — Tamilnadu. It’s a very small region of India, so that was REALLY COOL. Andddd one more thing, and possibly the most scary of all. Our moms both went to the same college in India and graduated with the same major. LIKE WHAT.
WHAT. ARE. THE. ODDS. I remember learning this for the first time in upstairs Commons at Vanderbilt and was shook to my core.
But in all, Angel is a sweet friend and kind human, breaking down mental health stereotypes and sharing her honesty with the world. I admire her so deeply!! Check out this session with her and my two new friends, Kristi and Hannah!
