Family | Backyard Family Session

I love hanging out with families and getting to know them, and I love LOVE taking photos of families where the kids grow right in front of me! The White family is one of those families and taking their photos was a BLAST (yes, we used lots of bubbles ahahah).

I’ve known the Whites for many year (my parents are really good friends with them) since they attend my home church. They are all absolutely sweet and wonderful, and Aisha and I even worked together for a summer when I interned at NICE (Nashville International Center for Empowerment) — an organization with a mission to ensure that refugees and immigrants achieve their full potential now and for generations to come. I was a health intern for a summer there, calling health insurances on behalf of our clients and creating educational pamphlets and such. I loved my time there and enjoyed everyone I worked with (seriously, we had the BEST PEOPLE).

A fun story about the Whites — my parents and I actually hung out with them on July 4 in Boston, Massachusetts when I was in high school. If you know me, Boston holds a very dear place in my heart, and not just because some of my closest friends live there. Boston is also my second favorite city, mostly because of this specific visit, since I had just taken US History in school and I knew what had happened a couple of hundred years before on these cobblestone roads. Walking down the Freedom Trail just meant so much MORE when you know what happened and it truly felt like history came alive. 

Andddd July 4th in Boston was out of this world. Flags were hanging everywhere, we got corralled into a large room where someone started to sing the national anthem and the mayor showed up (crazy right? lol we were just looking for food), the fireworks were unbelievable, and it was just a wonderful and educational trip. I love love Boston!!

Anyway, we got dinner with John and Aisha there and it was so good to hang out with them. If you know them, you’ll quickly learn that John LOVES plain food while Aisha will literally try anything, and so dinner was so fun and entertaining to say the least. They’re both quick to ask questions and love thinking about the deeper things in life and it was so sweet to spend time with them in Boston…and then again, here at their home in Nashville, taking photos of their two sweet kids.
