My parents absolutely HATEEEE having their photos taken. Absolutely. Whichhh can be hard for me sometimes. Me – their photographer daughter who just wants to capture their sweetness from behind a camera, BUT ISN’T ALLOWED TO. Thanks ‘rents. Reallllllly appreciate it
Sooooooo, it’s no surprise then, that I’ve NEVER taken photos of my parents in the five years that I’ve been a photographer (I mean, besides awkward, self-timer photos at Christmas and cute, nature photos during our treks around national parks). BUT QUARANTINE WAS THE TIME TO CHANGE THAT.
I mean TRULY. The only couple I’ve seen for this entire time of quarantine are my PARENTS. I had to do something about that, especially since I was reallly missing the exhilaration of being behind a camera. Soooo I pulled out my BESTT begging skills and asked and asked and asked and the ‘rents FINALLY agreed to let me take some snazzy photos of them!!!! WAHOOOOO! CLOUD NINE OVER HERE!!! 🙂
First step? Get mom to wear a dress. This is our faveeee convo to have – mom never wears a dress and I alllllways want her to (this is where a LOT of the begging came into place, oops). But after a couple of days of pleading (or possibly weeks?) she finally agreed to wear one of my dresses (one of my favorites from the Ashley Lemieux Shop !!). And what a QUEEN she was in that dress (and a queen Every. Single. Day. !!!)
LIKE WHATT??? Oh heck yes.
On the other hand, dad was LOVIN’ the shoot – way more than mom. He was down to take photos from the get-go (totalll opposite of my mom, haha!) and enjoyed and laughed during the whole entire shoot. Mom – well – she was another story. She loveeees to rebel against me (I promise she loves me) and spent a lot of the shoot making silly faces and doing the exact opposite of whatever I said. Honestly, I LOVED it, because her personality was SHINING in these photos. (PS. If you know me, this is where my silly, random side comes from. Aka, the moments where I’ll sing (read: scream off-key) loud songs lying on the floor of a room. Thanks for the silliness, mom!).
And my favorite part of it all? NOT ONLY did we take allllllll of these photos in our backyard (what???!!), but the whole process (including getting ready) took a total of 45 minutes!!!!! Seriously – we were back in our 3-day-old PJ’s and sitting on the couch watching Designated Survivor in no time.
HOW FRIGGIN’ IMPRESSIVE IS THAT?
I’m obsessed with all of these photos.
Aren’t you?
Let’s show my parents some love!! Scroll through the following and check these OUTTTTT!!!!!!!
