The other night, I was texting Madison Hitchcock, and she mentioned that she wanted to do a shoot with a friend in the fall (with one of my other favorite humans, Molly Kate Hance). I of course said that I would absolutely love to, and then started brainstorming what kind of shoot it would be like (yes, I literally know it’s months away. But this is who I am so here we are). Madison said that her and MK didn’t tend to like photos that other people take of them, repeatedly saying that they would be one of my hardest clients. I fiercely disagreed (I’ll prove them wrong in the fall, don’t worry) but I still wanted to find something on-brand, fun, and stylish and full of cute best friend energy for these two to enjoy.
I went on Pinterest (of course) and started some searching, and then found this idea for a shoot — the photographer stands outside of a coffeehouse while the couple is inside, sipping coffee and just having a regular date and chatting. I loved the idea. It’s classy yet simple. It’s so ordinary, yet the window adds a bit of magic that can’t be found anywhere else. I was so impressed by every single part of the shoot.
However, knowing myself, I had very little patience to wait to try this shoot out in the fall. Therefore, I texted Natalyn (obviously. one of my go-to models) and asked her if she and Matt would be down to hang out the next day and try this idea out. She said yes (yay!) and we decided to meet up at The Well Coffeehouse at noon.
I literally had no idea what to expect (what’s the best time of day to shoot through a window? literally no idea.), but GUYS it worked out! I definitelyyy got some weird looks by people across the street (oops) anddd almost broke a table when I moved it away (sorry @TheWell. I promise I fixed it!). AND I need to not wear a striped dress the next time I try this out. BUT, in all, it was amazing, and fun, and chill.
Matt and Nat are amazing! I got lunch a couple days before the shoot to celebrate Nat’s 22nd birthday and to meet Matt! They’re both amazing people and I highly recommend meeting them (and looking through these photos!).
