Mini | Cornelia Fort Airpark // Nashville, TN
I just love doing mini sessions. I either get to hang out with one incredible individual, show her unbelievable photos of herself, and have interesting and deep conversations with her OR I get to have a glimpse into a friendship dynamic and peek into the intimacy and joy of their lives.
This mini shoot was a mix of these two, in the best of ways.
Erin reached out to me a while ago, letting me know that one of her roommates, Kathleen, was moving to SCOTLAND (yes, you read that right. SCOTLAND. THE LAND OF COOL PEOPLE) to study at the University of Edinburgh. If that’s not the coolest thing that you’ve ever heard, I’m not sure what scale of coolness you’re using, because this is DOPE. Kathleen is cool as heck and it was so fun to take photos with her.
I had met Connie and Erin before. Connie was the first person at Vanderbilt that I had met before going to college. We ate crepes at a restaurant and talked about her favorite things about Vanderbilt, her community, the Navigators, and so much more. She was so integral to how my Vanderbilt life played out, and I am forever thankful for that meal and that friendship (also Connie is just HECKA COOL. So fun and hip. Check out the mini session I did a while ago with her!). I met Erin through Connie, as they’ve been friends and roommates, and she’s also just a wonderful ball of energy and kindness (and freakin’ STUNNING). All three of these women are godly, kind, hilarious, spunky, and BEAUTIFUL.
Anyway, I of course said YES to Erin’s shoot and we decided on a date for this shoot. I didn’t have an exact idea of where to have the shoot, and sent various ideas to Erin of fields and flowers (my usual vibe). She asked me if I had shot at this airpark in east Nashville, and so I looked the park up on Google. Y’all, this place is incredible. I’ve seen photos of shoots from this airport-turned-park, but never had actually gone. But it was so worth it.
On the morning of the shoot, the air was thick with fog. Like seriously. We couldn’t see across the airpark because there was just dense, white fog everywhere. Honestly, I love this. It sets the mood of an early morning sunrise shoot, and since this shoot was at 6:30am, I felt it fit pretty perfectly.
But y’all. It might have been very early, but these three women were dressed to the nines in super cute, hip, fun, and complementary outfits (that even matched the blanket that they sat on). Literal goals. Check this shoot out! We had so much fun just running around and enjoying the company of each other, and I’m so thankful I got to hang out with them. Want to have your own mini shoot?
