COVID-19 has messed up a lot of plans. A lot a lot a LOT of plans.
Brides everywhere have been hit so hard by this season as well. Wedding planning in a good, non-pandemic year is already crazy stressful, but wedding planning during a year of a global pandemic is even worse. There is so much uncertainty — will a venue be open, how many guests can I invite, can everyone travel to the location safely, how will we be socially distanced at the wedding, etc. There’s truly so much to think about.
Plus, if you’ve thought about your wedding for an extended part of your life, you have all of these expectations that you’ve subliminally created. From getting the dress, to having your bridesmaids by your side, to a certain venue, and everything in between, it’s easy to get caught up with having your wedding pan out in an exact way.
But COVID is just not allowing that.
Cue this wedding. Ben + Mikayla had planned a huge wedding in the summer to get married, before COVID happened. They were going to throw a wedding with lots of family and friends, surrounded by those they love, and in a beautiful location. However, COVID turned all of this upside down. They needed a new plan.
They had some family friends out in Tennessee (the couple is actually from Ohio) and knew that this family’s backyard was breathtaking. And when I say breathtaking, I mean breathtaking — in two ways). Ben and Mikayla loved the rolling hills of Tennessee, and that’s exactly what this ceremony was. The altar was at the bottom of a very large tree-covered hill, which made for a stunning view; however, it was ROUGH and “breath-taking” to walk up that thing (or to grab something at the bottom of the hill if you left something down there, oops).
But y’all. This wedding was everything. Although it might not have been in some epic venue, this wedding screamed love. Mikayla was beautiful as she walked down the aisle. She cried as Ben read his vows, and he cried at hers. We jammed to music during family portraits. These two kissed and hugged each other in a way that just radiated joy.
Check out this wedding. I’m serious. SCROLL THROUGH. You’ll want to see this. Second Shot for Abbey Hunter. Check her work out as well!
