Natalie found me via Instagram (classic, right?) and commented on one of my posts. In this post, I had just shared my heart for the need for couples to continue dating, even after they were engaged or married. With some simple date ideas, any evening can be fun and remind you why you fell in love with the other person. I think a lot of people think that dating after marriage is expensive. But has building a pillow fort and eating popcorn while watching a Disney movie ever been expensive? Nope. (Lowkey, this reminds me of the most recent time I built a fort in our living room, and my friend and I watched the Princess Bride. It was FUN). But even making mug cakes and eating these after the kids go to bed or just asking each other three intentional questions over dinner can be a wonderful date. Finding intentionality in the mundane is so out of the ordinary. This is so important, and even though I’m not engaged, many older and wiser couples have shared this knowledge with me and I firmly believe that it’s true.
Anyway, Natalie commented on the post, saying, “this! i’m not married or engaged but thank you for this great advice when this day comes.” From there, we messaged back and forth a little bit, and Natalie encouraged me a lot in my work (telling me it was beautiful. Aw SHUCKS ) and then told me that she’s been doing photography for a while, too!
She asked to shadow me or just watch me work at some point, but with COVID-19 happening, brides are already cutting down their wedding guest sizes so that’s a harder thing to work with. However, I asked if she wanted to hang out the next day and just take some cute photos of each other, and she agreed!
Natalie was such a joy to meet, and beautiful inside and out. We talked about how everyone is beautiful (another one of my recent posts), about college, COVID (obviously), her photography work, and what she wants to do.
Y’all. Check these photos out! We had so much fun taking photos of each other and this woman is talented (and stunning!). You won’t be disappointed.
