Kicking off this year’s wedding season with the Langford wedding was everything I could ever ask for and more. I met Shelby my sophomore year in college, when she was a junior. She was roommates with one of my newest friends and y’all, Shelby was just absolutely incredible. I had never met anyone as kind and welcoming and intentional as her, and her sweetness and desire to truly get to know me better just stunned me — I had never really met intentional people like her before that year (this was the year that I joined Navs, who Shelby is now working for!).
My favorite memory with Shelby was probably the summer between my sophomore and junior years of college. Shelby, and her maid of honor Shelby N, were team leaders at the well-loved Navigators Summer Training Program in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and my friend and I decided to pay them a visit on July 4th. We woke up before the crack of dawn and watched the sunrise at Max Patch (if you know, you kNOW) and then adventured the sweet city of Pigeon Forge after a classic breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We went to Dollywood (life tip: if you want to have zero lines for every single ride, go to Dollywood on July 4th. We rode every ride we wanted, some twice, and probably waited at most five minutes for a ride. It was magical) and ended our day at The Apple Barn before my friend and I drove back to Nashville. If you know the Shelbys, you know that time with these two is just refreshing and restful, and my friend and I left for home with lots of new reflections on our lives and deeper friendships. It was just absolutely wonderful.
Fast forward to the next year — the summer where Kyle and Shelby started dating. Shelby and Kyle had run into each other in college since they had both been a part of The Navigators, but no relationship had ever formed. However, this summer, they were both invited to Luke & Abbey Julian’s wedding. Abbey had gone to high school with Kyle and was still close friends with him, and Abbey was also one of Shelby’s college roommates.
Kyle and Shelby love to dance, and so of course when a song came on, Kyle asked if he could dance with Shelby. They shared their first dance and then ended up chatting all evening, learning that they would both be in Nashville. Kyle grabbed her phone number that night and these two have not looked back since (insert every sappy emoji to ever exist ).
These two are so spectacular together. They’re both hilarious and fun, full of life and joy, are so kind and caring, and just the best humans all around. I’ve personally just had so much fun seeing their relationship in action and seeing how deeply Kyle cares for and loves Shelby and Shelby’s admiration and love for Kyle. I mean, a 4 hour engagement session helps to really get to know people well (lol – don’t worry we weren’t taking photos the entire time, and we did grab dinner at The Pharmacy ahahah, but click here to check those out!). These two are amazing.
Soooo fast forward to their wedding in Fort Worth this year. They had the best rehearsal dinner at Joe T Garcia’s (the food was AMAZING and the unlimited margs were unbelievable – highly recommend this venue for rehearsal dinners!), a beautiful and sweet ceremony at the Robert Carr Chapel on TCU’s campus, and a rocking reception full of celebration at The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth. Everything was dreamy, so so many tears were shed, and these two were simply the life of the party.
So I hope you enjoy all of these photos and feel like you were a part of their wedding day. These two were handsome and beautiful, caring and kind, and just the best friends-turned-clients and humans around. I’m so excited for their marriage and know that they have such a firm foundation of family and friendship to start this journey on together, with the greatest God to lead them. Enjoy these photos!! Kyle and Shelby, I love y’all dearly ❤️
