Wedding | Community Bible Church | Nashville, TN

Starting off in the wedding photography business is really hard. You’re documenting one of the most important and memorable days of someone’s life and there is very little room for mistakes and camera screw-ups. Everything needs to be perfect. There are no retakes or second chances.

Personally, I’ve been to a lot of weddings growing up and so I knew a thing or two about weddings. However, when I shot this wedding (back in August of 2017) I had never even second shot for a wedding photographer before. Granted, I had been doing a ton of senior and family sessions, but a wedding was obviously different. However, this didn’t scare me and I knew I wanted to do my job well. I researched all the best lighting techniques. I practiced the lousy flash on my camera. I googled and pinterested like it was my day job (which I guess it kinda was). And honestly, this wedding will always be one of my favorite because of all of this extensive effort that went into it. And just the pure simplicity of this wedding.

This wedding wasn’t about glam and lights and showing off. It wasn’t about who had the best food or the best dance music. This wedding was simple and charming, with less than twenty people there, the far majority family. The bride and groom were clearly in love and the emotions of this day will forever be cherished in my memory.

They cried when they first saw each other in the church bathroom, because they couldn’t wait to go outside to do a first look. They just wanted to be with each other and be comforted amidst the ceremony nerves and anxieties.

They hung out with each other the morning of. The bride got her hair done at Spitfire Salon and the groom was with her the entire time, looking at her with love and admiration (plus patience because we all knowww how long it takes for hair to get done!!). Then they attended church together at Community Bible Church before the ceremony as well. It was so simple — no frills or expectations to be met.

Simply love.
